chev|ron «SHEHV ruhn», noun.
1. a cloth design in the shape of the letter V, either right side up or upside down. It is shaped like Λ or ᴧ, worn on the sleeve by noncommissioned officers, policemen, and members of other groups, as an indication of rank, length of service, or wounds in war.
2. a design shaped like the letter V upside down, used in coats of arms and in architecture.
